Stewart County High School Assists Students with College Planning

Stewart County High School in collaboration with the A-TEAM Afterschool Program has been assisting students with college planning.  Starting in September, the A-TEAM Program began offering SAT/ACT Prep workshops for students during the afterschool program hours.  Then on Saturday, October 1, students were provided transportation to Columbus High School and Columbus State University to take the SAT exam which is used for admission to US colleges.  Students will also be provided transportation to Eufaula High School to take the ACT on Saturday, October 22.

This past Saturday, students were taken to Fort Valley State University’s Fall Open House.  Students were greeted by President Dr. Paul Jones and key staff members as well as current students of FVSU.  There were representatives on hand from the Admission’s office, Financial Aid’s office and from the other different departments to answer questions that the students may have had.  Four students of Stewart County High were given on the spot acceptance letters to enter school Fall 2017.  To conclude the day, students were given a tour of the campus, provided a tailgate lunch, entertained by a step show and free admissions to the football game.  Students were very excited about experiencing a day in the life of a college student.

Stewart County High School and the A-TEAM Afterschool Program will continue to collaborate on future endeavors to expose our students to even more college and career experiences.
